CIG has announced the appointment of Ross Ferguson as Head of Editorial across Pharmacy Magazine and The Pharmacy Network, marking an important step in the continued evolution of its content and professional engagement with the UK community pharmacy sector. |
Ross rejoins the company after seven years and brings a unique blend of clinical and editorial expertise to the role. A qualified pharmacist, Ross has extensive experience across both the multiple and independent pharmacy sectors, having worked as both a pharmacy manager and pharmacy owner. |
Alongside his pharmacy career, Ross has built more than 20 years of experience in healthcare journalism and clinical publishing. Most recently, he served as Deputy Editor of the NICE Clinical Knowledge Summaries, leading the development of trusted clinical guidance used by healthcare professionals across the NHS. His clinical textbook Pharmacy Management of Long-Term Medical Conditions was published by the Pharmaceutical Press. |
In his new role, Ross will work closely with the existing editorial team to further develop and reposition content across Pharmacy Magazine and The Pharmacy Network. The focus will be on supporting pharmacists as their role continues to evolve, particularly with the expansion of clinical services and the growing importance of independent prescribing within community pharmacy. |
His appointment comes at a time of major change for the profession, with many describing the expansion of pharmacy services and independent prescribing as the dawn of a new era for pharmacists in primary care. |
Alongside this appointment, the company also announced that Richard Thomas, long-standing Editor of Pharmacy Magazine, will retire from his full-time position after 25 years with the company. Richard has played a pivotal role in shaping the publication into one of the sector's most respected voices. He will continue to support the business on a part-time basis, ensuring continuity and sharing his extensive experience with the editorial team. |
Felim O'Brien, CEO of CIG, said: |
