| | | | This email is sent on behalf of Teva UK | | | | Motusol (diclofenac diethylamine) is Teva's new topical gel range for relieving pain due to sprains, strains and bruising. |
The two strengths, Motusol 1.16% w/w Gel and Motusol Max 2.32% w/w Gel, are available over the counter as General Sales List (GSL) medicines. |
Both gels can be used by adults and adolescents aged 14 years and over for the short-term local, symptomatic treatment of mild to moderate pain in acute strains, sprains or contusions following blunt trauma. |
When recommending Motusol, you can refer to its triple effect. Applied topically, the active ingredient diclofenac targets pain directly at the source, reduces inflammation and helps restore movement. |
The gel is easy to use. Apply the gel thinly the affected body part(s) and rub it gently into the skin. Wash the hands after applying the gel unless they are the site being treated. Depending on the size of the affected site to be treated, use a cherry to walnut-sized quantity, corresponding to 1g to 4g of gel. |
Motusol 1.16% Gel should be applied 3-4 times daily, while the more potent Motusol Max 2.32% Gel is used twice a day, normally morning and evening. The gels can be used for up to a week but if symptoms worsen or do not improve after 3-5 days, advise the patient to see a doctor. |
Don't forget, being GSL medicines means the Motusol products can be sold from open display in the pharmacy alongside other topical analgesics. |
